If your toilet is blocked, use a plunger to pump the blockage through the system. Be careful not too flush your toilet multiple times, or you may cause the water to overflow the basin.
You may also want to lift the cover on your toilet to see if the flapper chain is still connected. The handle of the toilet should be connected to the chain for it to function correctly. Verify that the chain is in place if the handle doesn't seem to flush the toilet.
Are your outlets working properly?
If you're having problems with your outlets, first plug in another appliance to rule out equipment failure. If you have GCFI outlets, attempt to reset the outlet by pressing the test button and then pressing the main button.
If this does not resolve your issue, your circuit breaker may have been tripped.
Your hot water heater controls the water in your rental. Find the tank and verify that the thermostat is set correctly. If necessary, reset the hot water heater and wait at least 15 minutes before testing the water temperature again.
Check your thermostat to make certain your settings haven't been changed accidentally. A power problem could be to blame if the thermostat is set correctly. Call your utility company to confirm that your account is in good standing.
